- You should avoid using any style features such as "Aero Glass" on Windows Vista because it consuming more power from the battery. Change to the classic theme style is the best way. On Vista, just click "Desktop - Preferences - View Color - Appearance - Classic Appearance and Windows Basic Graphical Interface". On XP, "Display Properties - Theme - Windows Classic". Linux and Mac has better system to save energy.
- Hibernate better than Sleep (Standby). On the Standby mode, computer will turn of Disk Drives and monitor but memory still active while CPU decelerated. It means, this condition still consuming battery power. Hibernate is the best choice, because notebook will keep last condition even you totally turn it off.
- Get the best from the less. Working with many programs (softwares) also consuming more power. It is better to open one to two program simultaneously which you really need to use.
- Bigger capacity on RAM may reduce load on virtual memory which directly create an effect to the Disk Drives. Even if more RAM will take more power but it still a saver way because it cutting HD access power.
- Notebook which has dirty air circumstance produce more heat while consuming more power.
- Avoid any high temperature places.
- Software and driver update must be reconstructed by their provider to work more efficient (power consuming) than the old one.
- Keep using the original Adapter so you can avoid overload or damages on the battery.
